1920s mesh fully beaded evening bag

This is a classic Art Deco era drawstring purse, and it’s a lovely specimen. The construction is entirely beaded—thousands of tiny glass seed beads painstakingly strung and woven together, which was the height of fashion during the Roaring Twenties.

The color palette is quintessentially 1920s—that golden yellow combined with a rich teal or turquoise blue, accented with coral-pink floral motifs. The stylized flowers running down the center panel are typical of the period’s love for bold, geometric Art Deco patterns mixed with naturalistic elements. The vertical striping and symmetrical design show excellent craftsmanship.
